Looking for a taste-safe option for your little one’s sensory play? I think it’s the main worry of all who do sensory play with babies and toddlers – “What if they try to eat it?”. I can relate – my toddler still tries sometimes.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- Coloured Cereal (Fruit Loops)
- Food Processor/Blender/Bullet
- 6 Bowls
- Bin or Tray

Start by sorting the cereal by color. This can be a great activity for your child to learn colors and sorting! (And yes, they may eat a few along the way!)

Then process all colors individually. You can either process them to a fine or coarse sand. Both will provide a different sensory experience!

Here is a close up picture of the texture you should expect once completed.

Here is the final result. Layer the sand in whatever you choose! We layered them side by side and then with our fingers made waves.
Add some spoons, scoops, containers, little trucks & cars – whatever your child enjoys!
NOTE – Since this sand is food based, we suggest keeping it for no more than a few days – just in case!
